I love quilting!

Well, today I should say...I love patchwork. I spent the morning in my quilt studio working on putting my latest doll's quilt together. In my last blog post, I told you about taking the corners of some leftover strips from my medallion quilt to create a new little quilt.

So I started sewing the 32 half square triangle blocks together to form the first part of the quilt. It needed more so I went to look through the bits of leftover fabrics from the same medallion quilt. Choose a basket block to add to the others, add some strips for borders on the sides and.....

.....this is the result! I simple and sweet little doll quilt. Yes, I did make a mistake with the placement of a few of the squares deliberately. I find this adds to a vintage look. The off set set up of the blocks reminds me of cutter quilts.

I do not, of course, only love quilting. A UFO from a year ago has come out to be worked on. A year ago this month, I became too ill to continue with this online SAL. It will be finished now though and added to my sampler wall. I just love this sampler. I see a pink theme going on, you too? But have no fear...my next quilt does not have a bit of pink in it.

I love that SAL and wish I'd had the time to join in. It's nice to see it again, and I hope you'll post photos as you finish it.

What a darling new doll quilt Heidi. I love the basket quilt block pattern, somehow it always reminds me of Spring and May Day Baskets and flowers. I am so happy to see your sampler. I saw this when you started it on your "old blog" and thought it was so sweet. It will look wonderful with your other samplers on your sampler wall. I have been busy stitching my Hunca Munca sampler but took a few days off to finish a small patchwork quilt that has been waiting patiently in my quilt basket to be completed :). Now it is happy and so am I! Hugs from California!

What a sweet quilt. Perhaps the doll size would be just right for me to try. Must think about that.

Great to see ABC again. It is so pretty and will make a wonderful addition to your sampler wall.

You have used beautiful fabrics for your doll quilt Heidi and the layout adds to to the charm, I love the different colours borders! Your stitchery is lovely, is that SAL still going? I wouldn't mind joining as I also do cross stitch.

Heidi,
Your new doll quilt is a real treasure. i love it's colours of course and the clever way you have given it a vintage feel with the odd little quirk :>)
You're going to have to tell Nancy you just need another of those pretty little dolls and if you run out of room they will always find a warm welcome here :>)

I'm so glad you are continuing with your lovely sampler. Picking it up again is like drawing a line under that really bad time you had with your health last year. Hopefully all sorts of things are taking a positive turn now :>)
With affection Angela xx

Another darling mini, Heidi and your sampler is going to be a beauty. It looks like you don't have too much more to do before it is moved to the 'finished' pile.

Yes, I definitely see a 'pink' thing happening, but who says there's anything wrong with looking at the world through 'rose colored glasses'.

You make it look so easy making a quilt. Witin a week there is already a new quilt finish. Super!
And I am happy seeing your SAL from last year back again. You are 'picking up the thread'. (LOL).
(P. S. My quilt for babyboom is fun working on. Thank you for the inspiration!)

Hard gewerkt weer Heidi! Het is een heel leuk en bijzonder quiltje geworden. De merklap schiet ook al aardig op. Ik ben benieuwd hoe hij er straks in een lijstje uitziet. Succes verder en prettig weekend.
Hugs en groetjes, Elly

Hello Heidi,

This is such a gorgeous little quilt. So sweet with those baskets on one side and the triangles on the other, it's too sweet for words! Sigh ...
Your sampler looks great.
My life is far too busy right now, but I will be back soon (I hope).

Take care & hugs, Carolien
