Beginnings.....

Tonight is the first night my quilt group comes over in 2010. Anyone else out there finding 2010 a strange number? I cannot believe 10 years has passed since everyone was so worried about the year 2000 for nothing. My biggest worry now is why is time passing so quickly and how do I ever get all the wonderful projects I have planned done? *wink*

Our new quilt year starts each January with a new theme. This year our theme project is Leanne's House BOM (block of the month). This quilt includes a lot of stitchery blocks and a few with applique. For some of the ladies, this is the first time they will be doing stitchery and they are looking forward to trying it out. I have the first block completed to this stage. I have one more stitchery block to sew and then I can finish up the patchwork. The first block everyone is sewing is traced so I can show them the stitches tonight and they can all start their quilts.

I do hope to show you more results of last years charm quilts theme soon. Many were still working on them. I too am working on two more charm quilts which I hope to finish one very soon.

Now with all this going on, I have neglected my Mary Poppins stitching. This is very poor progress from the last photo!

I have sewed another Job's Trouble block and have two more cut and ready to sew.

Our Christmas decorations are almost all put away and I put up my winter tree once again for the month of January. It is especially fitting this year as Jack Frost has decided to take up residence in Holland for a while. Skating fever has hit the country and I am afraid the only cure is a nice cup of hot cocoa topped with whipped cream! *grins* You can see more of my winter tree on my blog TheCranberryChronicle and my tutorial for making the scarfs for this tree here on my old blog NeedleNecessities.

Is Jos going to skate this year? If he does, take pictures. I think winter has hit everyone this year. We have more than enough snow and it is still coming down. My cousin called yesterday to say Syracuse had four foot. She wanted to know if that is where Kristy is. No, but not far from there. I need to ask her about it.
Your new project is great. I love the combination of quilting and stitching.
Mary Poppins will come right along I'm sure. It has to, Saskia will be sneaking up to beat you.
Your quilt squares are also very nice. Keep stitching and wear the fingerless gloves I made you to keep your hands warm.
Love you, Mom
PS: Tell the ladies hi tonight for me.

No time for the grass to grow under you feet, Heidi...or shouls I say no time for the snow to melt.

My you've been both productive and busy. I just love quilts with stitchery incorporated in them.

Have fun tonight. I sure wish I could join you.

I feel the same way about time passing too quickly and I'm not finishing very many projects! The new quilt theme looks great. I can't wait to see progress photos.

I love your new quilt Heidi and I am sure the quilt ladies will do a wonderful job with theirs. Do they intend to make the whole quilt or just certain blocks.

Thank you for sharing.

Happy New Year Heidi!
You have chosen a beautiful project for your quilt group to work on.
I love the soft pink tones in your fabrics and look forward to seeing more as you work on the blocks in the coming year.
Hope all is well with you :)

Heidi,
The start of the new quilt looks like a promise of exciting things to come. I adore the colours, of course. Mary Poppins may look like slow progress but I'm sure, in a little while she will just pop out of the picture and surprise you :>)
I'm so glad you are putting up your January decorations. Your pictures have come at the time when I most need inspiration. Off to take a closer look.

Hoi Heidi,
Groetjes, Ingrid.

Don't you just love all the anticipation of a new project? I've been working on a little Santa these days. He'll be ready to add to the collection on the wall in the hall next Christmas - he has a hockey stick and puck!

O, your on a quilt and ufo rush.
Hold on, we still have to set a date...
My first stitchery is done (yeah!), will work on it this weekend.
As soon as my PDA is working again I will call you (or mail you), to set a high tea date.
Hugs Saskia

the snow is still falling... I'm curious how the world looks tomorrow.
I like the wintertree, but I'm glad with the space after the christmas tree;

I admire your creative spirit: you have such great skill in thinking to make something beautiful out of 'nothing'. By the way: is this snow in Holland the way you like it? It is beautiful, isn't it?
