Enjoying a finish...

Yes, my friends, I am a very happy person today since I am enjoying yet another finish!

The first of my Blue Ribbon Designs sayings is done. I stitched this on 34 count linen over one so the design is only 2-3/8 inches high.

I had purchased frames for these 5 sayings some time ago in a discount store here in Holland. It means playing with each design to make them fit. Answer to this dilemma? Why patchwork of course. I filled up some excess with little one inch squares from my scrap box. Unfortunately, I see in the photos that my frame is scratched on top. Funny that I did not notice them just sitting here looking at it but they show up in the photo. *sigh* I do need new glasses and this must be proof.

I want to give these an old fashioned country feeling and the patchwork works really well for that. And I already know exactly where I am going to hang the 5 framed pieces so I think I will have to consider pulling out the next one this weekend to get started on it.

In the meantime, I am back working on my Quaker Row. I want to get this project finished soon too. It feels huge compared to having stitched this saying since I am stitching it over two. What do you think? I am on a roll? *grins*

This came out so nicely. I love the way you put the little patchwork on the side. It will be interesting to see what you do with the next one now.
Have a WONDERFUL birthday tomorrow, and I hope that stupid package gets there. I mailed it early so you would have it early, duhhhhhh, now not even ontime.
Have a good evening.
Love you, Mom

So very pretty, Heidi. The patchwork is such a great way to fill up the frame. Once again, you are too creative for words!

What's going on? Are you doing the equivalent of roller skating through these projects? Gosh, you're fast!

I love it, though, and I love the tiny patchwork beside it and the way you'll finish the series off in the same frames. So organized! :D

I just started an over-one project today and it feels so very nice and small. :D

Wat een leuke combinatie Heidi en zo fijntjes met die kleine steekjes en blokjes patchwork. Heel origineel.

That is an absolutely lovely finish, Heidi. Where do you come up with all these ideas?

Is there still snow in Amersfoort? I can barely get out of the woods!

Love it and the saying too! I didn't even notice a scratch in the pictures I'm seeing. I was just at your mom's blog and wanted to stop by and wish you a happy birthday! Love the new haircut too. You're braver than me. My head is sooooo round (think Charlie Brown) and nothing looks good on it so I keep it shoulder length. Oh to have courage like you, lol! Anyway, enjoy your day today!

Heidi, the scratch has dented the wood and in my eyes makes it look more "time warn" and vintage-looking. I's lovely, especially with the pieced blocks off setting it.

May you have the happiest of birthdays tomorrow. Enjoy your day!

It's been some time since I stopped in Heidi so I had to go back a ways to see what you have been doing. Love your Mary Poppins sampler - I still know all the songs too. :) Your idea about filling in those extra frame spaces with patchwork is brilliant - I have gotten rid of frames before thinking I'd have no use for them but now I will have second thoughts! I hope you have a wonderful birthday!

Finishing something brings such a lovely feeling! I've got two pieces of knitting on the go, as well as a cross stitch - I'll have to get busy and finish one of these projects, as there are another one or two on the sidelines.
