I decided to challenge myself from now to the end of the year with finishing as many UFOs in my quilt studio as possible. I showed you my prettied up bag in my last post and now a little quilt finish. This is a doll quilt created from a star block challenge I did while in Kathleen Tracy's online group. I sewed seven of her little star blocks and set them on point. I then created a very scrappy border to surround the stars.
I called the quilt Lucy's Little Stars and my handmade label was sewn on last night to complete the project. It measures 15 by 20 inches. The combination of blues and browns give it an old fashioned look.
It was so much fun for me to hand quilt this! I do love the quilting process especially these doll quilts. I had the setting triangles to be able to use to play with some quilt stencils, changing things to make everything fit just right. There is something indescribable about the feel of my needle and thread going through the layers.
I have some ideas for changes on my bookshelves in the living room and want to place this cupboard in the shelving units. I will show you when I do it but first I have to read books to create an empty shelf. *grins* It is my hope that eventually the miniature armoire will be filled with only the doll challenge quilts by Kathleen. I am no longer in the group but still want to complete the challenge quilts along with the six American doll quilt club projects.
Very pretty quilt Heidi, such a peaceful and soothing color combo. Hope you soon get some relief from your eye issues. Your cabinet is looking wonderful:)
I am sorry that your eyes are bothering you, hope they are better soon. Love the colors in this quilt and love that you are filling your sweet armoire.
Isn't your armoire pretty! I love the look of the little quilts you have in it.
I do hope that your eye problems will be helped.
I hope your eyes are a bit better now Heidi..
And I love your little quilts!
This little quilt is marvellous again. Love the colours, it makes the variety in your cupboard even bigger!
I am sorry to hear your eyes are getting worse and painful. I really hope it is temporarily...
Stinkin' cute! Love that idea of the mini cupboard to hold your sweet little quilts!
I sure wish you weren't in such grief with your eyes...blessings.
I'm sorry to read you're eyes are worse. But luckily you still can use your needle and thread. You obviously have quilting energy more then enough!
So sorry to hear about your eyes. What a sweet quilt! I love the blues in it. I'm in love with your armoire full of lovely quilts too!
Oh I love it Heidi- the blue and brown combination looks so antique-y. I love your miniature armoire too - what a great idea. It's so fun to do the doll quilts and experiment with different patterns and colors without making a huge and time-committing quilt. Good luck on your journey to getting old projects finished up this year!
That is absolutely the COOLEST quilt. Oh my gosh, I love it!
But ... will the vision return? Do they know yet? If you want to talk, send me an email and we'll exchange phone numbers, okay? You are in my thoughts all the time.
Congratulations on your finish! This is a sweet little quilt. I especially like your quilting in the corner triangles.
I'm so sorry to hear that you're in pain. I'm thinking of you! [[[[hugs]]]]
I love Lucy's Little Quilt. The colors are so pretty and your hand quilting is beautiful as always. I was so sorry to hear that your eyes are so painful.....I keep praying that this is temporary!!!!!I so admire your spirit and determination...you inspire me all the time. Hugs from CA.
Lucy is a sweet little quilt. All those quilts in your armoire are beautiful
Love the little quilt. Your work is so beautiful. I am hoping that your eyes will get better soon.
So sorry to hear about your eye issues ... sigh ... Hope the pain is somewhat bearable and it will pass.
The quilt looks fabulous, done in these different colours. Very clever layout!
And the cupboard of small quilts ... envy envy ...
I was wondering just this week how your eyes are doing. I'm sorry to hear you are in pain and they are getting worse. Hopefully it will be short lived. It's great, though, that you are able to work on your needlework. This quilt is wonderful; I love the colors and you did a great job quilting it. The design is a great one, too! When you make these little quilts - and even the big ones - do you do strip piecing, or cut all the little pieces?
What a gorgeous quilt Heidi, I love blues and browns together, and they look wonderful in theri miniature cupboard.
Hope your eyes are feeling better
Just as you love the feel of your needle going through the fabric, my joy comes in the journey of making the quilt. I love seeing how each piece of fabric looks when it's joined to the next. Your little doll quilt is adorable. I pray your eyes are doing better today so you can get that shelf emptied off. Take care.
Wat een mooi quiltje, en wat schattig zo'n kastje voor je miniquilts!
Courage Heidi ! I hope your eyes problem 'll end soon ! YI like your quilt and your choice for the colors : blue and brown are beautiful together ! Your cabinet is so wonderful : but place is always the problem !
I really like your doll quilts ... AND the label for the back that you made! That's a neat little armoir, too. :)
So sorry to hear that your eyes are bothering you. I hope that you get better soon.
Your quilt is just lovely. I'm so jealous of your cabinet of beauties!
