I love to give!

I crocheted a white flower for the red scarf as I felt it needed something. It is now ready to be sent out to the winner. I just love giving gifts to people so a giveaway is great fun for me.

And the winner is...Catherine. I hope you will email me as soon as possible with your address so I can mail the red scarf to you. I would love you to have it in time for Christmas.

My mother and step father are back on American soil. They landed in Detroit about an hour and half ago so are awaiting their flight home now. On Monday, I made this crazy quilt heart for my mother just in time for her to pack it in her suitcase.

She wanted my heart I made this summer. We happened to find one last metal heart when we went to the shop where I purchased it while she was here so I got it for her. Now she has her own unique crazy quilt heart too. The photo looks dark with the black metal on my table. If you click on the link, you can see my heart hanging on my quilt studio door which shows it better. The metal heart is beautiful with its lacy cut edge.

I used to crochet a very long time ago and made so many baby quilts using granny squares. It has been so long I've seem to forgotten how so I treated myself to a crochet How-to book! Now I've just got to get some yarn. :-) That scarf is so cheerful..congrats to your winner!

Both the scarf and the heart are lovely. How nice that your Mom & Step-Dad got to come for a visit and had safe travel back and forth.

I wrote a very long comment and then checked and it was not there. Hum.
Okay one more time. Thank you for the beautiful heart and also for the love in your very own heart.
We had a wonderful time and you are a great cook. Thank you to you, Jos and yes, Dagi too. Your B&B serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, not many do that.
The time went so quickly. I hope you have a great Christmas party tonight with your quilt group. Now, I have to unpack suitcases. I was too tired last night.
Congrats to your winners of the scarves too.
Love you, Mom

What a lovely scarf. Lucky winner! I think to be able to crochet or knit is an enviable skill. My mother was so good at it, but rheumatoid arthritis damaged her finger joints and she had to quit those handicrafts as well as playing the piano. Life sometimes seems awfully unfair. And I do think of that, how the past few months must be for you when you are not feeling well and there's the concern for your eyes. The wonderful thing about we humans is how we can adapt and compensate. We have power of will and hope. We are brave and smart. I know you will keep on doing the things that bring you joy, in one form or another. It's very heartwarming, how you reach out to us with your blog and share your beautiful things for us to see. I really enjoy coming here. You make me remember to face life with a positive outlook. Sending best thoughts to you for a comforting and healing 2012.

The flower made a wonderful addition to the scarf. Catherine will love her gift, I'm sure. I remember you sharing your crazy quilt heart, and the one you made for your mom is no less spectacular. What a special gift.
