I'm a stitchin' hermit!

My first stitchin' hermit weekend was fun. And yes Barbara...I am a natural hermit. Jos will not move to the country as he thinks it would feed this urge of mine to be a hermit. *sigh* I keep threatening him that I will run away to the Shetland Islands one day where I can really be a hermit. *grins*

Now as a hermit, I think I am entitled to feline friendship in the form of my little old man Dagi. In fact, I dedicated my hermit weekends to him even though he spent it snoozing as you can see. I am going to use these weekends to work on more of my Dagi cat sampler wall. High time too since I looked up my last entry about this project and it was back in September. Yikes!

As with all the samplers, I changed the cat's colors to Dagi's color. This design is called MayBelle but I am rechristening it DagiLuv.

Dagi is very old for his breed of cat at 14 years and is showing signs that life is coming to an end. It breaks our hearts to think he will not be here one day but we have been very fortunate that he picked us to live with (and boss around...lol) so making a sampler wall dedicated to him just seemed natural to me. I think he likes it to since he spent most of my hermit weekend on my lap. *wink*

If you want to join up or simply see more hermits, follow the link here to Joyce's blog.

The king (Dagi) is quite happy when he has your undivided attention. I know he is content to sit on your lap, minus the laptop, and wait for you to stitch him. He is the boss of your house, so don't even try to forget it. lol.
Love you, Mom

Dagi is lovely and so is your cross stitch. My Timmy is 8 now and has got more affectionate as he has got older he would love to sleep on a lap all day. Cat's when in the right homes have a great life ;-)dee x

I love the new pattern that you are stitching for your Dagi wall. Dagi looks happy and content to sleep while you stitch, just like my Patchie...winks...Patchie is 12 or 13 not sure which as we rescued her from a near drowning...sighs...but she certainly is queen around here...shhh don't tell Molly, our Lab, she thinks she runs the house grins...hugs from CA.

Je bent lekker bezig zo te zien(ik heb even verder gekeken op je blog en je kerstboom is geweldig)

Leuk idee om wand voor Dagi te maken.

Lovely stitching Heidi :-)
One of my cats (Molly) is there by my side as soon as i sit down to do any stitching, it means that sometimes I'm stitching with cat hair lol.
I think your wall dedicated to Dagi is a great idea :-)

Oh I'm so glad I had good company this weekend while stitching. I too am enjoying my "hermit" weekend, even if it didn't go as planned. I love the idea of your Dagi wall.

blessings, jilly

<3 Dagi

I just had the five cat patterns in my stash (from TGH series) out last night to look at them, and I really lingered over Maybelle. Instead, I've picked up A Hooked Rabbit Pincushion, but it was nearly a kitty start!

Your new Dagi sampler is wonderful.
My cat always comes and sits on my lap if he sees I am knitting!

Such beautiful stitching. I have a 13-year-old mixed hound dog who is always under my feet. I treasure my time with him.

Enjoy your time with Dagi. We are so lucky to have them in our lives, but it is hard to lose them. I lost Lex a year ago and she is on my mind a lot right now.
Beautiful stitching.

Your DagiLuv project is looking great! The only bad thing about cats (and dogs, too) is that they don't live long enough. Give Dagi a pet for me.

Love what your stitching to remind you of Dagi and how you changed the colors. I find as I get older I'm becoming more and more of a hermit....and I'm enjoying that!

Oh, and since you asked, I am going to restart my blog in the next few weeks. I just need to get a few things taken care of first. I miss doing it but we had some severe challenges come our way and I knew if I was blogging that they'd pour out into the blog and I don't want my blog to be about that. You know what I mean?

Have a great day!
Cindy

The sampler will be lovely when it's finished. Dagi may surprise you yet - my half Siamese cate lived to be 19 years old though it's many years now since he passed over the Rainbow Bridge.

Heidi, your stitching is beautiful, so glad you enjoyed your first Hermit.
In answer to your question, yes my design is HAED, although it doesn't look like much at the moment, there'll be a dragon in there one day

Love your baby Dagi:) He sleeps the same way our Darwin used to do...under my fabric as I was stitching...Pearl, our other cat is much happier sleeping on top of my pattern and threads forcing me to stop stitching when the thread runs out...

I spent 6months in Orkney living like a hermit and I was really unhappy...I do call myself antisocial, by which I simply mean I like being at home...don't like too many people, so being in town is NOT fun...but I felt claustrophobic in Orkney, which I believe was because the supposed open space was fenced in...you could not go out rambling unless you went to specific places. It was IMPOSSIBLE to find the gorgeous rocky shores as all little roads led to farms. I know that some islands were more open, but as we were there during winter season the weather SUCKED!!! Shetland seems to be more open though...but worse weather if you listen to the weather forecasts in Orkney...lol

I think somewhere inbetween is best...

Love your granny blanket, and stitching...I agree with you about feeling happiest when working with fabric and threads...:) X Ylva
