Dagi's sampler wall - Minerva

I have finished the first sampler for Dagi's sampler wall. I am making a wall of little cat samplers this year. The first is from this book from The Goode Huswife which you can see in this previous entry. Oh and a photo of my adorable little man Dagi himself! *grins*

I started this last Thursday and hated the color of the cat so I ripped it back out again and started over. I changed the colors to DMC 3032 and 3781 for the cat creating one that looked like Dagi. Dagi is a Mandarin cat which is a half long haired Siamese and his color is lilac tabby ticked. When he was a kitten you could see little bits of stripes on his fur which fadded as he grew. Okay, okay...I know the color is lilac but there is nothing purplish about my little man. He is a beige color actually. I am thinking about changing more of the cats to look like him as I go along.

Used for this sampler...
Zweigart Autumn Fields 28 count stitched 2/2
DMC 3032, 3781, 3045, 3012 and 3371

In the meantime, I also started pulling thread for the next cat sampler from the book called S. Claws. I have to start searching for frames now as I finish these. They are all small samplers so it might not be easy to find frames for them. I have to start looking around. Humm...an excuse to shop?

Note: I call Dagi my little man since he has such a big personality. He is really a little human with fur.

A wall full of cat samplers sounds wonderful and I love the fact that you changed the colours, that's the great things about cross stitching, you can change the colours to whatever you want!

Your cat sampler wall will look wonderful, you'll have to get Dagi to pose for a photo in front of each sampler as they are finished

Dagi is such a handsome cat that he serserves his own wall. And I think you are off to a fabulous start. I love that you are going to try and change the colors of the cats in your sampler to be a closer match to Dagi. (I did that one many pieces I stitched for my Mom's cat.)

Great finish.

Heidi,
That's so lovely :>) You really are quick off the mark. I can't wait to see the others. I wonder how Dagi will feel as his wall of fame grows - I expect he will think it's a well deserved accolade :>)

I've done that too - ripped something out because it isn't right. I'm always ripping out faces and hands (doesn't that sound terrible?) because I have a hard time getting the colours right.

What a darling sampler! I can see Dagi smiling and hear him purring all the way across the ocean....grins....It is such a great idea to make a wall for the " people in fur" in our lives. Keep up the good work...this sampler wall is a great idea. I am looking forward to seeing more kitties soon. Hugs from CA.

I think Dagi needs a dance all of his own Heidi, hes adorable. I love the finish too, I would love a wall of cats and a real one too,but I don't think the Ollie dog would approve.
You inspire us all, Winter comes Gently is being stitched at the moment! That was a lovely design by Danybrod -thanks for giving us the link.

Adorable, just like Dagi! I hope Tootsie (my cat) doesn't get wind of this sampler wall or she might decide she needs one, too!

What a neat idea to do a sampler wall for Dagi!! I have been wanting to do Dutch Beauty for Duffy. I need to get some of my bigger WIPs fnished so that I can start it w/o feeling bad.

I'm waaaay behind on commenting and reading, so it was fun to catch up on all your posts and see your beautiful projects. I love the pillow for the couch! One of the LNS gals (in Pennsylvania) did a bunch of pillows for her deacon's bench that she has in her hallway. I've always wanted to do the same--though I'd need the bench and a place to put it! ;)

Happy new year to you & your DH!

I've been a little remiss with my blog reading and commenting. I just love the projects you've been working on, especially the cat sampler. Imagine...a sampler wall for Dagi. He must be a really special pet...but then again all pets are special.
