Looking forward to summer?

Well, not really looking forward to summer already but I finished another UFO! This is a SAL that I did back in 2010 from Sofie's blog. I loved the lacy simplicity of this design.

But it was round and I could not decide what I wanted to do with it. A couple of weekends ago, we left for Cranberry Cottage on Friday morning so I asked Jos if we could stop in at a shop I like in Staphorst. I knew this sampler was sitting in a stack waiting for attention but was not looking for anything for it. When you least expect it, there it is...the solution.

I found a round candle tray that I was thinking would be about the right size for this sampler. I cut a piece of poster board in a circle to fit inside the tray and glued a couple of layers of quilt batting to it. Then I stretched the sampler over the poster board and laced it after which I simply glued it into the tray. A piece of lace glued around the edge finished it off just right.

So far, I have finished 13 projects this year of which 6 were on my UFO list. I am really pleased with how many I am finishing so have been adding more UFOs to the list. I hope I can keep up the momentum.....
Anyone else working this year on UFOs?

Well, aren't you just very clever. I love that finish. I love that store too by the way, but you know that. Hope you aren't leaving it outside lol. Okay, I know you won't.
Very nice .
Love you, Mom
PS: I bought the book you suggested on my nook and the book did not work.
I had to get a credit by calling the help line. The guy tired to fix it but the book didn't work. It was Emily's Ghost. Weird huh.

I love, love, love the way you've finished this Heidi! I'm intimidated by circles - the slightest bit of wonkiness really shows. You've done a beautiful job!

You found the perfect way to finish off your piece. I am going to have remember that you did this because I have a piece that I want to stitch and it's circular also. This will be the perfect way to finish it off.

I love this finish Heidi! It is really beautiful! Congratulations on all of your UFO finishes. That is a wonderful accomplishment. I too am working on a UFO and have a few more lined up. It feels good to finish something that has been waiting for awhile...grins...like Mary Poppins? Hugs from Ca. my dear friend.

You have my full admiration for having already finished so many UFOs this year. I also want to finish some of mine but so far have only created some new ones, lol.

THis is a great solution! I am working on my UFO's, but since they are all quite big, I haven't finished a lot yet. I finished 3 quilts this year and one Hoooked Zpagetti project, not bad, is it?

Hello

I'm new to your blog.

Congrats on your lovely finish. The sampler itself is beautiful and the way you mounted into the tray and added the lace is just perfect.
