Jolly Monday with Mary!

Well, hello there and thanks for stopping by! I have a cup of hot cocoa all ready for us to enjoy together as we sit and chat...

It has been cold and snowing in Holland. To me, that is the perfect weather sitting sitting inside by our woodstove doing stitching and quilting. Perfect bliss! And of course, Mary Poppins is here as well. She is delightful company. There are always magical things happening in the house when Mary is there...

Each Monday will be a jolly Monday with Mary as I journey on this SAL and then create a special finish for this sweet piece. Remember to put on your speakers and sing along. From the comments when I first shared this piece with you all, many of you surely know the words to these wonderful songs. Isn't it great to be a child again? I wish I had Mary Poppins as my nanny. Just think of the fun cleaning up your toys each evening then! Can you snap your fingers? *wink* I did with my stitching and look at the progress that has been made...

I have entered a challenge with Saskia and Joke from my quilt group. We are going to work this year on UFOs. The first to complete the list will be treated to a high tea by the other two. Now I have a goal of finishing 6 UFOs, Saskia 3 and Joke 4. I do have to ask them if they are doing their by machine as mine are hand quilted and that would mean I have no chance to win so I would have to change my goals. Hand quilting takes much more time.

At any rate, let me share the first of my challenge UFOs. This was a project I had planned on completing last year but, with our new floors being laid, things got side tracked. I finished the last stitchery block last week and completed the patchwork over the weekend. I made this into a charm quilt with a slight twist as the first border around the stitchery blocks is from one fabric, a mustard colored polka dot fabric. There are 138 different fabrics packed into this little quilt. Now to sandwich it so I can start on the quilting.

Are you having a jolly Monday?

No I'm having a terrible Monday!! We have just been told we need to buy a new boiler. It's freezing here. Anyhoo, I think I'm going to have to go get me one of those hot chocs with cream! Yum. Enjoy your Mary P. x

Hi Heidi.

I love that Mary Poppins piece I keep saying I will stitch it one day. The music is great to sing along to (but once it get in your head its hard to get out) I cannot remember how many times I have started "the perfect Nanny song". Those hot chocolates look yummy , I will be back for another visit.

I'd love a cup of cocoa with you Heidi and I'll bring one of my UFO's as well, there are plenty LOL. They'll have to wait though, as once again I've started something new, I'm stitching a babysampler for my friend who gave birth to a babyboy on newyear's day.
And as for my monday... I went out teaching this morning, then watched "Dancing at Lughnasa" with Meryl Streep on the internet. And then I fell asleep on the sofa, I seem to be sleeping an afwul lot at the moment. And now I'm bloghopping :-)

Take care dear friend.

hugs B. x

Heidi, your Noah's Ark quilt is wonderful. The colors are superb and give it a happy, scrappy look.

Congratulations on your first finish for 2010! I think you deserve a second cup of cocoa.

Keep warm and happy stitching.

That is really cute, but holy cow, that is a lot of fabric. The hot chocolate looks yummy, and I know it really is too. I just bet Jos got that second cup.
I can really read Joke's comment, but it looks like it might say machine quilting. Ohoh.
My Monday is okay so far, I am going to the movie with Louise at noon. She is leaving for Florida on Thursday, so our last get together for now.
What happened to your computer? You were on then gone, no skype.
Love you, Mom

I love your cocoa mugs! Great idea about setting yourself a challenge to finish your UFO's. I am terrible at starting projects and just not finishing them... maybe I should join too.

In answer to your question, in itself it is alright to use my e-mail at work, but I will e-mail you with my personal mail tomorrow, it is better that way I think. Looking forward to setting a date to meet up.

Hi there, Mary.
DO NOT snap your fingers, and finish all your UFO's at once!
I have to finish 1 top, and I quilt 2 by hand. So, so, so...
I finished the first stitchery, and i'm proud of it.
I would like a hot coco though while I'm working on my ufo's. Can you bring one over? with whipe cream please.
Hugs
Saskia

My Monday was a bit of a dip, to be honest: tried the new pram with kind of shelf for Caroline to stand on while walking to school with the kids, but ergonomically speaking this is a disaster ... immediately neck and back troubles for me. I already told my boss this was the first and last time I used this pram! And why do the days pass so quickly? My ...
Well, don't mind me today. This just wasn't my day, I guess. I'll try again tomorrow ;))))
I am going to make a hot chocolate too, good idea!

Big hugs, Carolien
P.S. Noah's Arc looks great, congrats!!!!!!

Noah's Ark is beautiful, but I can't imagine the stitching that went into that border! I can almost smell the hot cocoa. If we could smell onto posts it would be aromatherapy!

Hi there! Love the Mary Poppins. Lily just got that movie and it's bring back great memories! Hope you are well. We have had tons of snow too as I'm sure your Mom has told you. Jason just flew to Frankfurt today and on to London, so I'm sure it's cold there as well!

Lovely stitching! I really enjoy seeing all the stitching you 'experts' do. It inspires me, a beginner.

I'll take a cup of cocoa, thank you :)

Oh, what a lovely picture--the two mugs with cream on top! Then followed by more eye candy--your Mary piece and the quilt. Beautiful!!

I hope you're keeping warm! I have to confess, I enjoy the cold weather and wintry conditions because it seems like winter to me. I like the four seasons. I'm from Delaware, so I'm used to the snow and ice... but in mid-snicker about how the country was handling it, I realized one difference... Delaware has salt trucks go out BEFORE storms and salts the roads, then they plow the streets. Big difference!! So, I've amended it... I like the snow on the grass but not so much on the roads! ;)

Have a good weekend!

All of your projects look "yummy"!

Like you describe it, winter is such a beautiful thing. I must admit that I'd love to spend winter time like this, having a hot tea and stitching and quilting and reading.
Mary and Noah are coming along quite well.
