I ran upstairs after lunch to see if perhaps I had a frame that would work for the design. What luck! I had the perfect frame so I got to work immediately lacing the stitching and framing it.
This was a free chart from Claire's blog Gazette94. When I saw it, I asked my mother if she would stitch it for my new house. Now I cannot wait to move into the new home and hang this in the entrance hallway. *grins*
Anyone who knows me well knows this saying applies to my lifestyle so very well. I am what the Dutch call a sparrow which in the language is 'huismus'. This is used to describe people who are contented being in their home due to home ('huis') being in the name of the bird.

It's beautiful!
Just beautiful!!!!
You must be so thrilled to have this lovely sampler/saying stitched by your Mum, she has done a grand job in the stitching and you have excelled in the framing.
Lovely heirloom Heidi,

It's clear to see that talent runs in your family! This is beautiful!
What a lovely piece for you new home. I immediately went to the site and downloaded the freebie.
Lovely!!

What a special and heartfelt gift from your Mom...from one sparrow (me) to another (you). *wink*
Lucky girl! It's a mother's prerogative and pleasure to spoil her daughter, especially when she has a daughter who enjoys beautiful needlework so much.
I cannot believe you had that frame. Square frames are not common and then here you are with one. You amaze me. Great framing job on a simple little cross stitch. I'm happy you like it and will be waiting to see your new home.
Love you, Mom
Your mother does lovely work! I have a few things that my mother has stitched for me, and I treasure them, as I know you will this lovely sampler.
Absolutely lovely
That's a very pretty stitching about your soul and being. Your home is a home where everybody loves to spend time in. (and don't want to go away..)I love it, and I bet you already know a spot in your new home, where you want to hang this.
Lucky you, you mother did a great stitching! And how many frames do you have in the house. It seems like you have one for each stitching that is finished LOL.
And you are so right about being happy being home. Just keep enjoying it.. And after your moving (which is quite soon I think to remember) we will set a date for sewing!
Wat een prachtig borduurwerk, dat heeft je moeder mooi gemaakt ! Heerlijk hoor, huismus zijn ;-)
Oh that is lovely!
Gorgeous - obviously your family is full of talented stitchers. I really love the sentiments of this sampler too
Wat een mooi kado, prachtig gewoon!
Groetjes van een andere huismus ;-)
Oh Heidi didnt your Mother do a splendid job. I agree with the sentiment completely and have the same saying on my lounge wall but not that design.
It would look good in my hallway too lol.
Nancy do you need to Happy Dance as I am quite a good partner lol.
Take care you both
It's lovely Heidi - kudos to your mother and how great that you had a frame just perfect for it! I usually save off those free charts but I had to go and get this one as I missed it. The verse is so true - I feel the same way!
I love how this turned out. Compliments to your mom.
When is the big date for moving house?
A lovely work , a perfect frame and a lovely story of a mum and daughter who share the same passion !
Your mom is the tops, Heidi!! :D It's wonderful. What a super gift!!
Oh, MoM! It's BEAUTIFUL! LOL! Absolutely beautiful, and it will be wonderful hanging in your new home, Heidi. I'm the same way. Such a homebody and SO content to be busy right here where I call "home."
I always feel as if my daughter has come to visit me when you come over to see me. Then, the feeling is so much like HOME when I venture over to your dear blog. THANK YOU! from the bottom of my heart. Sandra
What a beautiful sampler. Your mom did a wonderful job stitching it. How wonderful to have something your mom stitched for you. A treasure indeed. Of course the frame is perfect.....I too am a sparrow and I am happiest when I am at home taking care of my family and of course doing a little bit of stitching. Hugs to your mom for making you a great housewarming gift and of course hugs to you from CA.
Your Mom's stitching is lovely, and the framed piece looks great. What a nice treat!
That is wonderful! What a perfect gift for you, and for your new home. :) Love the framing, too.
