Keeping warm.....

Bet you thought I got lost huh? Nope! I have been on my computer very little. Just been very busy with lots of fun playdates with friends and working on tons of projects. Speaking of projects...why did I ever learn to crochet????? Now I have one more thing that I desperately want to do each day. Yeah, like I needed yet one more thing...

So I was online searching for a beret pattern, as one does, and then I found this pattern for wristies on a blog, as one does, and could not resist so I grabbed my yarn and a crochet hook, as one does, and got tucked in yesterday. Okay, now do not call the grammar police. I know that was an incorrect and long sentence but that is how the crochet muse got a hold of me yesterday. *grins*

I wore these this morning with my winter coat since it is rather cold outside at only 0C/32F. They felt so soft and kept me warm. I think I am going to make another pair as it would be fun to have them in other colors. I am also going to add one more row of the single crochet row at the start as they will be just a tad longer.

Oh and by the way, I also made a beret but I will save that for another post as I first want to finish the scarf I am making to match it.

What are you up to this weekend?

Okay, I am impressed. I also know that you had a hat done and didn't like it and ripped it all back out. You can add that to finishes.
These are really too cute for words.
Great job. You tackled this just like all things you learn new.
Can't wait to see the next two items.
I am still trying to finish my project which became huge. I would never have made it if I had known it was this much yardage. I really think it will be way to bulky and heavy to mail to you.
Have fun with your scarf now.
Love you, Mom

I've never seen anything like this! How fun to keep those wrists and upper hands warmer when you don't need to wear gloves or just to keep your hands free. You, my sweet friend, are so talented and make the most fun items!

Brilliant idea Heidi, there is nothing like a little bit of wool to bring warmth. I have a pair of soft fingerless gloves made by a friend, and wear them so much in the cold.

Oh-h-h, those are too precious...been wanting to crochet some, but just haven't found the right pattern...do like the one you chose...you are doing so well with your crochet! Of all my crafts, crocheting is my favorite, but do enjoy embrodiery and love making quilt blocks...oh me, what do I like doing best? Rowena in Texas.

Ok, these wristies are just too cute. What a wonderful way to help stay warm. Way to go on your crocheting Heidi, you are really doing well and I must say you have learned another craft well. I should be happy dancing soon with my afghan... Have a great weekend and I am looking forward to seeing your beret and scarf.

This is downright creepy, Heidi. Everytime you do something new, it appears that I'm doing it at the same time! Only I'm knitting mine... Haven't progressed past the granny squares yet :o) I mean, crocheting in the round??? They look fabulous though, and BOY, was it cold outside today!

Nice! They look very comfortable.
And it's a good thing you won't go with us to the quilt-expo/craft show. Or there are more new projects, and more new techniques to try and get infected with... LOL

I warned you, didn't I? Crocheting is so addictive! but it's a great addiction and the timing is perfect: it's COLD again...
love the gloves, I'm saving this link.

You are doing wonderfully with your crocheting! I, too, have been wanting to do some more, but I have other projects to finish first. My daughter, Sarah, made a pair of wristlets, but they came partway up her fingers. She loves them. As for me, I finally finished packing up the Christmas things today, including putting away all the gift bags, bows, organizing wrapping paper, etc. I need to go through the house and gather all the heart themed things I can find so I can do a bit of decorating for Valentine's Day. I've never done that before, but with all the gloominess of this winter, I thought it would be fun and cheery.

BTW, are you familiar with Ravelry? Go to ravelry.com and check it out!

I love your wristlets Heidi and think I shall be crocheting a pair of these for they look so warm and cosy. It is very cold here in the UK but lovely sunshine and sunset today.

I see you have another Hazel in your fan club so I shall sign of as Hazel C (UK)

Leuk idee om polswarmers te maken. Ik gebruik zelf ook zoiets, maar dan niet zelfgemaakt. En het haken gaat je heel goed af!

Those are really cute Heid and a great way to keep your hands warm but still be free to do things. By the way not sure if I commented on your recent finsihes for your 'cat sampler' wall but they are so cute! I'm sure Dagi appreciates them :). I cannot beleive a designer would be upset if you change colors in a design, how crazy is that. That is like a pattern company like Simplicity not liking what fabric you use to make a dress.

I have not crocheted in more than 20 years I think. I would have to relearn everything but no time for that (thankfully as I don't need any more hobbies LOL)
