I'm hooked!

On crochet that is! I am surprised that I like doing it as much as I do. I just do not know how to delegate my time to be able to crochet, stitch, quilt and make lace. Anybody know where I could buy a few extra pair of hands and perhaps a couple of extra hours a day while I am at it???

I have put together the granny square I have made up to now. I am going to make this into an afghan we can use while laying on the couch. I use my afghans and quilts often on the couch due to my health. I am making this 10 squares wide which means I have about another100 squares at least to go...

My squares look so plain after looking in my new book. This just arrived in the mail and it is a fabulous book. Many of the projects have a patchwork feel to them so they will satisfy the quilter in me too.

Have a wonderful weekend! I will have a finish to share at the end of it. *grins*

I don't think your afgan in the making looks dull at all, it's lovely!

I would love to have a go at crochet, but like you i don't think i would find enough hours in the day! My mothers friend has offered to teach me, i've just got to get around to going to her house one night, now i've seen your granny squares i might make the effort next week :-)

Well, Heidi, if you ever find the answer to your dilemma, please share it. I'm sure we'd all love to know how to make more time to fit in all that we love to do. I'm sure that the person who coined the phrase, "There aren't enough hours in a day" was probably a quilter, stitcher, crotcheter, knitter and hooker. *wink*

Your afghan is looking wonderful.

Heidi, you're so multitalented with your hands! I had my (at the time future) mother-in-law teach me how to make an afghan. I made a couple but my hands cramp so bad holding the crochet hook. Now I just buy the yarn and she makes me afghans! She's made one for every grandchild when they get married and they're treasured for sure. You go girl with you new hobby! I love how creative you are. :)

You are doing a great job. Too bad the little Amish Doll had to give up his patches while he was laying on the doll couch. LOL
Don't worry about what is in the book. You started on just the right squares. A step at a time.
I'm glad you listened and sew as you go. I know it is daunting to have them all to sew at the end. I learned that the hard way.
You can make them into sweaters, ponchos and purses too you know.
Have fun..
Love you, Mom

I just finished my own crochet project: a lace weight crochet shawl. How about crochet lace to combine two hobbies and save time?

Your granny squares are truely lovely and not plain at all...your family will treasure it because it was made by you. I think it is great that you sew as you go...your mom is right... I waited to the end to sew up all the squares in my dad's afghan and it is rather daunting....next time I will know better....grins... have a great weekend...hugs

I think the colors are just lovely! The squares are fun to work and seem to go pretty fast! And, it's a good idea to stitch together as you go.

Het is wel een heerlijk werkje dat haken. Een mooi nieuw boek is wel heel gevaarlijk.

I enjoy crochet. It is soothing when you get a rhythm going. There are lots of crochet blog entries out there with lots of free patterns. My favorite is http://attic24.typepad.com/weblog
I hope you enjoy it if you take a look.

Hè Heidi jij ook verslingerd aan het haken, wat ontzettend leuk. Vorig jaar maakte ik ook een 'Granny square blanket', zo leuk om te doen. Nou ik hou je vorderingen in de gaten hoor.

Your Granny Squares are lovely, and the colours are beautiful. They will make a wonderful "quilt"! Yes, if only we could add more hours to each day to satisfy the longing in our souls for more time to stitch and sew!
